The Institute of Information Technology (IIT) with its strong base, modern and latest scientific and technological development, is preparing to enter into 21st century with broad base knowledge being imparted and the effective manpower produced since its inception. The challenge of the next millennium is to be faced by IIT in a splendid manner with a confidence that the process of adoption of new technologies is not hindered at any stage and the pace of development is enhanced vigorously. The intensive efforts are being made for expansion and modernization of the infrastructure of IIT in this direction on a principle that 'sound IT training is an essential prerequisite to excellent performance'.
An engineering and IT education provides unusual opportunities for solving problems of major concerns to our society. IT is a dominant cause of change, including social change and modern technology is more than an identifiable body of science-based knowledge; it is a cogent point of view and approach to solving problems of great significance, as well.
The IIT, although young by university standards, now ranks among the top science and technology institutions in the country in terms of the quality of instruction, experimental and research contributions of its faculty. Its goal is an education that will allow graduates to practice the profession at the highest level and to move into new and still-to-be-discovered technical areas with confidence and ability. Included in this goal, is a preparation for advanced postgraduate study.
The three departments within the institute serve as centers of activity for study and research in traditional as well as pace-setting disciplines. By utilizing the resources of one or more departments all students, undergraduate, postgraduate and research scholars alike, are able to prepare for a wide range of professional careers in government, private, academia and industry.
Due to advances in Computer & Information Technology, Telecommunications and Electronics, the Institute of Information Technology has attained a unique position in the art of science and technology. Our undergraduate and postgraduate study is one of the leading programs in the country, and we are constantly striving to expand our faculty and facilities to remain in the forefront of these rapidly changing field.
