Vice Chancellor's Message

                    

Dear Students,

       Welcome to the University of Sindh. I have been looking forward to the opportunity of assisting you in carving   out a brighter career for yourself by making full use of the facilities provided at the university.

The University you have chosen to pursue your studies has geared up all its resources to provide you maximum opportunity of study in professional and market-demand oriented as well as general disciplines. For this purpose, not only disciplines such as Information Technology, Computer Science and Business Administration degree programs have been revised but other professional disciplines such as Bio-chemistry and Microbiology have been strengthened. Bio-chemistry and Pharmacy Departments have been raised to the status of Institutes & new program such as M. Sc. Criminology degree, have been introduced.

 

Your University has its 41 teaching institute and departments/ centers which offer bachelors and Masters as well as Ph.D./ M.Phil degrees programs and the total enrollment stands close to 10000 students pursuing studies in various disciplines at both graduate and undergraduate levels.

The University has also converted its Information Technology and Computer Science Bachelors

degree program to 4- years,  bringing them at par with international standards; similarly degress in Electronics Software Engineering and Telecommunication have been raised to 4 years.

Further the University has also introduced Evening Shift programs as of last session and student particularly those who are keen on career advancement while in service have welcomed the facility. Currently the Evening Program are restricted to Master's degree in English, Information Technology, E-Commerce, Multimedia Technology and BS (IT). These initiatives will help to promote IT education and train much needed manpower in this most promising job related filed.

However inspite of all the material expansion and addition in the facilities the educational standards

have suffered over the years and I am pained to witness this deterioration.

I have accepted Vice Chancellorship for this Second time as a challenge with the mission and resolve to restore the image of this once prestigious institutions. The goal however can only be achieved through your cooperation  . 

Realizing that our students lag behind in competition for want of proficiency in English I have introduced "Remedial English course" for the all new entrants from the ensuing session. This one semester intensive functional English course  aims at improving your comprehension   and  expression of the language. Further the Academic session  has been brought forward commencing from Jan 2002, in order to save one precious year of your career.

I have also ensured that no escalation enhancements in tuition this session. All the steps are meant to enable you to acquire higher education that leads to improve in quality  of human development.

The advent of Information Technology has resulted in the globalization and internationalization of higher education with learning acquiring a global aspect. The digital   revolution has ushered in a era that has changed the whole spectrum of life;

in this scenario you would be faced with tough competition to find a niche of yourself . Therefore while you are here at the University, commit yourself to making full use of the opportunities offered, equip yourself to face the challenges ahead, and make yourself useful to the community,  and help to create a society that is progressive, tolerant, pluralistic, prosperous, and just that values ethics, human dignity & sprit of enquiry
